Summary
Here’s a summary of the video content:
The video explores the integration of artificial intelligence in video editing by testing an AI agent named Codex using “FilmCraft,” a video editor from ArtCraft. The speaker set out to determine whether Codex could independently edit a complete video advertisement from raw footage, a voiceover, and a music track without human intervention on the timeline.
After downloading the ArtCraft launcher and installing FilmCraft, the speaker connected Codex via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling the AI to interact with software tools directly. The speaker provided Codex with a prompt detailing the requirements for a travel agency advertisement. Codex analyzed the assets, selected appropriate shots, aligned them with the voiceover, added music, applied color correction, incorporated animated text overlays and motion graphics, generated synchronized subtitles, and created an animated end card.
The resulting 42-second commercial was completed in under 14 minutes and yielded a polished, professional output that exceeded expectations. The video concludes that while established editors like Adobe Premiere Pro remain powerful, the MCP-driven workflow of FilmCraft and Codex offers significant potential to save time and streamline the initial video editing process.

Description
Could FilmCraft be a better choice than Adobe Premiere Pro for AI-powered video editing?
In this episode of Applorable, I put FilmCraft, the open-source video editor from ArtCraft, to the test using OpenAI Codex and the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
Rather than manually editing footage or using AI computer control to navigate the interface, MCP allows Codex to communicate directly with FilmCraft and perform editing tasks.
I give Codex a voiceover, a folder containing 58 travel stock footage clips, a music track and a simple prompt to create a professional travel agency advertisement.
The results genuinely surprised me!
