Summary

In the video, Colin Smith explores five major updates in Adobe Photoshop Beta, focusing on enhancements designed to improve user experience and creative control.

The first major update is the new Spectrum interface, which features a modern, darker aesthetic with rounded corners and simplified tool discovery. Users can roll over tools to see them pop open, eliminating the need to click disclosure triangles. The second feature discussed is the updated color picker, which includes recently used colors at the bottom and improved web-safe color options, making color selection smoother. The third update covers creative restyling, where users can use generative AI models (like Gemini 3.1) to modify images, such as changing seasons, and export those changes as video files directly from Photoshop. The fourth update introduces a quick comparison slider, allowing users to easily view before-and-after versions of edits using vertical or horizontal split views. Finally, the fifth feature highlights the ability to remove related elements using the remove tool, with options to create non-destructive edits on new layers.

Overall, the video emphasizes Adobe’s continued push to integrate AI and modern design principles into Photoshop. These updates aim to streamline workflows, reduce clicks, and offer more advanced generative capabilities, giving users greater flexibility in their creative process.

Description

Adobe has been busy adding new features to Photoshop Beta. In this video, I take a look at 5 of the biggest new features and changes, including the new Spectrum interface, Generative Restyle, Quick Compare and improvements to the Remove tool.

You’ll see the new modern Photoshop interface and color picker, how Generative Restyle can transform an image and export the transition as video, how to compare before and after versions with the new Quick Compare view, and how to use Remove Related Elements nondestructively without degrading the rest of your image.

Keep in mind, these features are currently in Photoshop Beta, so they may change before they make it into the regular version of Photoshop.
