Elementary particles
Fundamental constituents of matter that, according to the standard-model, possess no internal structure.
Classification
- Fermions (Matter particles):
- Quarks: Particles that experience the strong interaction.
- Leptons: Including electrons and neutrinos.
- Bosons (Force carriers):
- Gauge bosons: Mediators of fundamental forces, such as Gluons and Photons.
Substructure Research
- Compositeness: Ongoing investigation into whether particles currently classified as elementary actually possess internal constituents.
- LHC CMS Experiment Tests for Quark Substructure: Experimental testing via the CMS Experiment at the LHC to search for evidence of quark internal structure.
