Hazy backgrounds are a common challenge in photo editing, where atmospheric conditions, lens flare, or moisture create a washed-out, low-contrast appearance in background elements. Dehazing Techniques

Object Selection Approach
Photoshop 2026 introduced an enhanced Object Selection tool that enables photographers to isolate specific regions—including backgrounds—with greater accuracy than previous selection methods. This tool uses machine learning to recognize distinct objects and areas, allowing editors to deselect the subject while keeping the hazy background selected. Once isolated, the background can be dehazed independently through curves adjustments, levels corrections, or dedicated dehaze filters, preserving the clarity and detail of the main subject while restoring depth and contrast to the background layers.
