Layer Control
Layer Control is a functionality within Adobe Firefly’s Prompt-to-Edit feature that allows users to make selective modifications to specific elements or regions of digital images through text prompts. Rather than applying generative edits across an entire image composition, this capability enables creators to target particular layers or defined areas while leaving other parts of the image unchanged.
How It Works
The feature operates by allowing users to isolate specific layers or regions within an image and apply text-based generative edits only to those selected areas. This approach provides more granular control over the editing process compared to global image manipulation tools, giving creators finer precision when making compositional changes.
Practical Application
Layer Control represents a shift in generative image editing toward more precise, localized modifications. Rather than regenerating or altering an entire image based on a prompt, users can preserve existing elements they wish to keep while selectively modifying only the components they want to change. This makes the tool more suitable for detailed creative work where specific adjustments are needed without disrupting the overall composition.
