Member checking (also known as respondent validation) is a technique in qualitative-research where findings, interpretations, or conclusions are returned to participants for verification. This process enhances Credibility and Trustworthiness by ensuring the researcher’s interpretation aligns with the participants’ lived experiences.

  • Validity: Confirms accuracy of data interpretation.
  • Participant Empowerment: Gives voice to participants in the narrative construction.
  • Error Correction: Identifies misunderstandings or misrepresentations early in the analysis phase.
