n8n
Open-source workflow automation tool for connecting applications and services. Enables building complex data pipelines and integrations via visual interface.
Improving RAG with n8n
Crucial fix for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) effectiveness in n8n involves optimizing document chunking and storage in vector-database. Default chunking methods often cause inefficient retrieval.
Key points:
- Inefficient chunking: Documents split without semantic boundaries (e.g., arbitrary sentence breaks) leads to poor vector search results. Context-aware chunking by section/paragraph significantly improves RAG accuracy.
- Core Problem: RAG systems rely on breaking down large documents or web pages into smaller “chunks” that are then converted into vectors and stored in a vector database.
- Solution: Implementing context-aware chunking by section or paragraph boundaries instead of arbitrary splits.
