Orion
Orion is a spacecraft system developed for NASA’s Artemis program, designed to serve as the primary crew vehicle for lunar missions and deep space exploration. The spacecraft is capable of carrying astronauts beyond low Earth orbit to support extended operations in lunar orbit and on the lunar surface. Its design integrates multiple critical systems for life support, propulsion, navigation, and crew safety across long-duration missions.
Artemis II Mission
Orion was the central vehicle for the Artemis II mission, a crewed lunar flyby that tested key spacecraft systems in the actual mission environment. During this flight, Orion’s in-flight systems and crew operations were evaluated under real conditions to validate performance and crew procedures ahead of planned lunar landing missions. The mission provided essential data on spacecraft behavior, systems reliability, and crew interface during transit to and from the Moon.
