Rob the ai guy
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY1dws9cOXk The video highlights five brand new changes and features in Google Gemini designed to boost productivity and blow your mind. Here’s a breakdown:
-
Gemini in Google Meet: You can now pull Gemini directly into your Google Meet calls. It can catch you up on what you missed, summarize discussions, and list key takeaways. Crucially, Gemini can access your Google Drive (sheets, documents, etc.) and search through them simultaneously during the meeting, answering questions based on your files and even relevant emails.
-
Advanced Image and Video Generation (Imagen 4 Ultra): Google AI Studio now features Imagen 4 Ultra (Preview), their most up-to-date image generation model. This model produces higher-quality images and videos. It offers better accuracy in changing text within images compared to other AI tools like ChatGPT. Users can also control the aspect ratio of generated images.
-
Automating Tasks with Scheduled Actions & Expanded App Integration: Gemini can now automate tasks for you. By going into
gemini.google.comand navigating to “Settings & Help” → “Scheduled actions,” you can set up recurring tasks. For example, you can schedule Gemini to “Send me a daily summary of my calendar, to-dos and important unread emails” at a specific time (daily, weekly, or monthly). This is possible because Gemini is deeply integrated with various Google apps (accessible via “Settings & Help” → “Apps”), including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Keep, Google Tasks, Google Flights, Google Hotels, Google Maps, YouTube, YouTube Music, and OpenStax. This allows Gemini to interact with and automate actions across your entire Google Workspace. Your custom-built “Gems” (personalized AI agents/projects) are also visible and usable across your Google Workspace. -
Gemini 2.5 Flash Model: Google has released a new, significantly faster model called 2.5 Flash. It’s available both directly in
gemini.google.comand within Google AI Studio. For most general tasks, 2.5 Flash is quicker than the 2.5 Pro model and doesn’t sacrifice quality. Users can use AI Studio’s “Compare mode” to test prompts across different models (e.g., 2.5 Pro vs. 2.5 Flash) to see the difference in speed and output. The presenter suggests using 2.5 Flash for most tasks unless complex reasoning, math, or code is required, for which 2.5 Pro is still recommended. -
URL Context Tool for Research: Within Google AI Studio, a new “URL context tool” allows Gemini to fetch and analyze information directly from specific web links provided in your prompt. This enables Gemini to generate responses, summaries, or comparison tables based only on the information from those URLs, rather than performing its own broad web search. Alternatively, the “Grounding with Google Search” option can be toggled on to allow Gemini to perform its own web searches for information.
